Though we seem grieved at the shortness of life in general, we are wishing every period of' it to be at an end. The minor longs to be of age, then to be a man of business, then to make up an estate, then to arrive at honors, and then to retire. Potatoes will be a much more profitable crop, if they do not command a third higher price, when people once more fully understand that laws of climate govern this tubor, |8 they do the grape, the peach, the cotton, !|:d the sugar-pane.
