The English Mail via Suez may be expected to arrive here by the s.s. Lord Ashley on Monday next, 10th instant.

The Rechabite Soiree, referred to in a previous issue, will, as may be seen by advertisement, come off in the Council Chamber on Thursday evening next, 13th instant.

The following civil cases came before the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning :— Clark v. Humphries —a disputed claim for .£lO 18s, wages as cook on board the p.s. Comerang. —Judgment for £6 16s. H. Williams v. King. —Judgment summons for £4 10s, Adjourned for one week to allow further time for payment.

In the Resident Magistrate's Court this morniug, Frank Parker, charged by Mr Inspector Scully with f.irious riding, was fined .£l, and co.sts, Bs. Henry Alley was charged, on the information of Mr Peacock, Inspector of Sheep, with a breach of the Sheep Act. Defendant had been driving some sheep from Waitangi to his land at Meanee, and the Inspector, observing some of them limping, examined them, and found some cases of foot-rot. — Fined £5, and costs, Bs. The Glassblowers gave another of their favorite entertainments in the Odd Fellows' Hall last evening. The attendance was not quite so good as on previous occasions. This evening, another performance will take place, when prizes will be given to the authors of the best and worst conundrums on the gla>.s steam engine. To-morrow, we would remind the public, a .mid-day performance is fixed for 2.30 p.m t , and in the evening at the usual hour.
