AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Reports to September 30.) [CAREY, GILI.ES, HUNTER AND CO.] The horse market has been quiet, without alteration in value. Good horses are still in request, arid first-class animals can be placed at fully late rates, although at auction on Saturday the last week's quotations were barely maintained. Bidding was spirited for good stamps, but other descriptions were neglected. Hacks are worth from £6 5s to £l2; draught horses from £22 10s to £3B each. Forage: The trade is rather more cheerful, but without any alteration from last week's rates. The quantity offered on Wednesday was scarcely up to the average. Cattle : The supply was large, and last week's prices scarcely sustained. Dairy cows were not offered largely, holders being unwilling to force sales in the present state of the market. Stores were permed in large numbers, and, although buyers were in attendance, prices were heavy at a reduction of 10s per head. The depression was even more manifest at the Waiuku sale, where the muster of cattle was up to the average, but sales were more dMicult to effect than is usual at this favourite market. The numbers sold were about the average. The beef market is without material alteration, the general run being about 35s per 1001 b. We quote dairy cows from £8 10s to £l2 5s ; store cows, from £6 5s to £6 17s 6d; yearlings, from £4 4s to £4 17s 6d ; calves, from £2 5s to £3 12s 6d j two-year-Old steers, from £5 12s 6d to £6 5s ; three or four-year-old steers, from £7 to £9 each. Sheep : The supply has been limited, particularly of prime j there is no alteration in value except for inferior pens, which sold a shade higher. Pigs are scarce, good sorts being worth from 4d to £5 per lb. [MR. ALFRED BUCKLAND.I On Saturday last horse stock offered in greater numbers than of late. For young animals in condition there was a fair inquiry and a ready sale, but aged stock and those out of condition were very dull of sale.—At the cattle sale held at Waiuku. on Wednesday all good young cattle penned were sold, but prices ruled lower than late markets about 5s per head.
