ENGLISH COMMERCIAL. NEW ZEALAND FLAX. Feom Devitt and Hett's monthly report we take the following : We would call the attention of our Wellington friends to a small parcel marked E & G in diamond, per Melita, sold at £29 10s, which is the best specimen we have seen from that district. Several American vessels have been equipped with New Zealand rope, and it is evidently growing in favor. The following marks have been sold, viz.: E and P, per Melita, from Wellington, at £25 15s to £26; P and Co., per Glenmark, from Canterbury, at £lB to £l9; O, per Otago, from Otago, at £l2 10s ; A, per Electra, from Wellington, at £l4 5s ; E & G, per Melita, from Wellington, at £29 10s; CM Eed, per Oriental, from Melbourne, £2B 10s; and C M Black, at £25 10s. Tow has sold freely at £l2 to £l3 10s per ton. Manilla hemp is quiet, and prices are about £1 to £2 per ton lower, —fair to good roping being worth £52 to £54. MONETARY. An interim dividend at the rate qi 10 per cent, per annum on the shares of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency is an* nounced for the half-year. The directors of the Union Bank of Australia agreed on a dividend, which was declared on July 11, of 6 per cent, for the half year, making, with the distribution of 7$ per cent, in January, 13$ per cent, for the year.
