"COST OF TELEGRAPHY."
TO THE EDITOR OF THE HA-WKS'S BAT TIMES. Sir, —I cannot help thinking that a great wane of taste is shown by your contemporary in continually harping on his outlay for telegrams for his paper,—a subject that cannot be of the slightest interest to his readers ; and, in my opinion, comes very ungracefully from the proprietor of the Herald, considering the support he has met with, the high rates paid by advertisers, and the price charged for his paper. In these days of competition, he must make up his mind to give the best information in his power to his subscribers; and in a paper which contains generally a good deal of most uninteresting matter, it behoves him to avoid, as much as possible, the insertion of paragraphs that pertain more to his private ledger than to the interests of the public.—l remain, Sir, yours truly, Wholesome Competition. Sept, 16, 1870.
