The Keera is announced to steam for Auckland this evening. The Weather still continues unsettled. The rainfall during the ]a&t week or so has been considerable. His Honor the Superintendent left for Wellington in the Luna on Monday last. Major Green and Mr Munro were also passengers. Professor Dorney, the "Wizard of the West," announces that he will perform in the Oddfellows' Hall, Napier, on the evenings of Tuesday and Wednesdav next.

£ije Government steamer Luna, wljich. arrived from the East Coast on IVfonday morning, did not bring any news with reference to the operations against the rebel Te TCooti. Nothing had been heard of Ropata since that chief started in pursuit. We have heard a report thai Kooti is supposed to have again betaken himself to ihgatapa; we cannot, of course, say what truth there may be in the statement, but think it quite probable that that is where he may have gone.

With reference to the Volunteers in the Province of Hawke's Bay, the Inspector, LieuL-Oolonel Harington, thus reports to the hon. the Defence Minister :—" On the 15th ofc March I arrived at Napier, and inspected the Volunteer Corps. The Artillery were newly raised, and had no opportunity of receiving instruction, owing to the want of a qualified inspector. The Cavalry were tolerably well mounted and drilled fairly. The Rifle Volunteers acquitted themselves creditably at drill, but their rifle practice was indifferent."
