AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Reports to August 6.) [MR AiTRED BUCKLA.ND.] On Saturday last the sale of horse stock was much less thaa usual. For those brought forward there was a fair enquiry. Fodder was without : alteration in value. At Papakura on Wednesday, there was a large number of cattle; 160 sold. They consisted principally of young cattle and dairy cows. The enquiry was good for all stock offered, particularly . for the cows. The prices obtained were higher than those ruling at Rerauera. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in : good supply, but many of them were in low coudition. Prices were somewhat lower. A large number of yearlings, also in low condition, met witli a steady demand, and brought from £5 5s to £6 7s 6d each. Fat cattle were in less numbers than usual, and the sale was brisk throughout. Prices are fully 5s the lOOlfcs higher than last week, and brought from 35s to near 40s the lOOlbs. 51 head sold. Fat sheep pens were nearly filled; about 700 sold. For inferior sheep the prices were rather easier, but those of first quality were worth to 5d the lb. Pigs were in short supply, and sold freely at rather higher figures. At the Haymarket yesterday, neither flax nor tow was offered for sale. Dried hides brought from 5s to 7s 5d each ; merino sheepskins from Is 4|d to 2s each ; half-bred and long-woollrd, from 2s lid to 3s 4d each. About 500 were sold. We find the following in the Evening News, 6th August :-rAt the Haymarket, to-day, some fine horse stock was disposed of at fair prices—Draught horses brought £l7 to £4-0 ; hacks, £3 to £8 ss; hay, £3 to £3 12s per ton. At the yards of Messrs Carey, Gilles, Hunter, & Co., to-day, a large number of draught horses were disposed of at higher values than previous sales. X oUll £ heavy draught horses realised from £3O 10s to £4O; aged do, £l3 15s to £ls ss; hacks, £6 10s to £9 10s. A mowing machine was sold for £2O.
