AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET, (Reports to July 8.) [MB, ALFRED J3UOICLAND.] At the Haymarket on Saturday last fodder was lower in value about 5/ each for small loads, and /G the cwt. for large ones. Horse stock were in moderate supply only, and of indifferent quality, the greater number brought forward were sold at late rates. At PapaknVa, on "Wednesday, there were not so many cattle penned as usual; with a single exception all brought forward, sixty head, were sold There were many dairy cows and a few calves, but the greater number were cattle from one to two years old. There was keen competition throughout the sale, and higher rates obtained afterwards than for several months. Pigs were penned in large numbers;, the first few pens obtained last weeks rate, but the greater hajf were at much lower values, not more than /2£ the top live weight. At Kcmuera, on Thursday, a large muster of dairy cows of medium quality met with a fair enquiry. Store cattle were in request. Steers, from two to three year old, brought from £7 5/ to £9 10/ each. Yearlings were in short supply, fat cattle were short of requirement; 54 head sold to the butchers. Inferior cattle brought from 33/ to 30/; best quality fully iiif the 100 lbs. No store sheep were penned; fat sheep were higher in value. Long-vvoolled hoggets brought from 16"/ to 18/3: ewes, 21/6 to 28/; wethers, 28/ to 30/; merino wethers of secondary quality, y/ to 10/ti each. [CAREY, GILLES, AX I) HUJiTER.] Horses.—The market has been tolerably brisk since last report. Good upstanding young horses meet with ready sale at from £l2 to £ls, but for inferior and weedy stock and mares, there has not been much demand. Good draught stock are also In request. On Saturday a large number were offered at auction, and a great many were placed. Hacks realised £7 15s to £10; light draught from £ls to £2O each. t Cattle.—Dairy cows in moderate supply, prices firm. A good number of stores were penned, late prices being fully sustained. Fat; stock have been petned in tolerable numbers, top sorts selling at fully late quotations, but for second-class animals the demand has not been quite as good. Dairy cows sold from £lOlO/ to £U; two-year-old steers, £l3lO/ each ; yearlihgs, from £<t to £4 5/; calves, £215/ to £i 5/. Sheep.—The supply of prime ;has been very limited, this description has advanced in price from 2/ to 3/ per head, while there has boeu no material alteration in values of inferior description and stores. Fodder was not so plentiful on Wednesday as previously, but prices advanced considerably,— prime fetching £6 per ton. The monthly sale at Papakura, on "Wednesday, was a< usual well attended, and prices show an upward tendency.
