Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. MONDAY, JUNE 13, 1870.

In the Provincial Council on Thursday, the Botanical Reserve bill was withdrawn; the Clyde Public Hall bill was read a third time and passed; the Highways Traffic bill was withdrawn in order to be incorporated with the Police Act; the Credit bill was read a second time, committed, and reported to the Speaker; the Council wen*" into committee on the Licensing bill; and the Education Rate Repeal bill was sh.ely.ed; after which the Council adjourned to 7.30. In the evening sitting the Compulsory Land Taking Regulations wore committed and reported to the Speaker; the Schools Act was withdrawn; several items were considered in committee of supply, after which the Estimates were passed, and reported to the Speaker; and the Council adjourned.

On Friday Mr Dolbel moved a resolution setting forth, thai the £260 of the loan appropriated by act of Council for the purpose of a bridge across the Waitaha creek should be now applied to that purpose from the £4lO balance of that account in the hands of the Government. The motion was agreed to on a division; but shortly afterwards,. a different muster of members being piesenc, on the motion of Captain Russell, the standing orders were suspended, and the vote rescinded. The Impounding bill was re-committed, and an additional clause inserted, after

which it was reported to the Speaker; the Police bill was read a second time and committed; the Impounding Act Amendmeut bill, the Credit bill, the Licensing bill, (against which Mr Carlyon strongly protested, as having been, thoroughly mutilated) the Compulsory Land Taking Reguand the Police Act Amendment bill, were read a third time and passed. The Appropriation bill was rea4 a second time, committed, reported to the Speaker, read a third time, and passed; and his Honor, in a short congratulatory address, prorogued the Council.
