The prospect of a mail service being established between San Erancisco and Melbonrne is hopefully regarded by the Sydney correspondent of the Argus. He says:—"i have heard privately from Sau Francisco that the Australian mail business is unquestionably creating some excitement there. Tilings were so dreadfully dull in that city that anything that promises a little spurt is eagerly V i']corned, and it is quite certain that every facility will be given therefor the accommodation of mails ami pasiscugers, more especially if the steam service Is carried on under the American flag."
