Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. MONDAY, MAY 30, 1870.
The weather yesterday was very boisterous —a strong southerly wind with heavy rain prevailing. We would draw attention to the performance announced by the Napier Garrick Club to take place tomorrow evening. Watt v. Buchanan. —Much of our space this morning is occupied with the report of the perjury case, Watt v. Buchanan. Much of the evidence was very irrelevant, but, considering the grave nature of the charge, and the general interest with which it i.> regarded, we haye gone fully into it, and given, as nearly as possible, a verbatim report. Provincial Council.— We regret that rhe length of our report of the case Watt v. Buchanan has displaced the report of Friday's Council proceedings, which, however, will appear in our next. —A very long motion by Mr Ferarcl, relating to the weip-hbridge, was withdrawn after tedious discussion. In committee of supply, on the motion of Mr Dolbel, £l2O was placed on the estimates for a totara bridge to the Waitaha creek. The Licensing and Sheep and Scab Acts were further considered in committee, and the Council adjourned about 10 p.m.
