I This Day, at 11 o'clock, Messrs Routledge, Kennedy & Co. will submit to public competition, ab the store lately in the occupation of V. Janisch, 13 bales of washed wool. A Supplementary Mail for England, via San Francisco, was despatched per p.s. Comerang on Tuesday evening. Poubtless another opportunity will yet present itself of sending a mail off in time to catch the steamer which leaves Auckland on Wednesday next, 4th May. A splendid lot of fat cattle and sheep left Napier for the Thames on Tuesday, in the Comerang. Should sufficient inducement offer, this steamer will make a series of trips between this poit and the Thames, conveying stock.
Yesterday was perhaps the coldest day we have felt since last winter, —the thermometer at 9 a.m. being down to 48. A piercing southerly wind prevailed throughout the day. The first practice of the Napier Brass Band, since its formation under the new regulations, took place on Tuesday evening. The tiring for the Colonial prizes will take place at Dunedin to-mor-row and the next day. 29th and 30th April. We trust to hear of our representatives giving a good account of themselves.
