Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus in jurare verba magistri. MONDAY, APRIL 11, 1870.

A meeting of the Hawke's Bay Total Abstinence Society takes place to-morrow evening in the Presbyterian schoolroom. Major Heaphy, V. 0., was a passenger by the s.s. Wellington from Auckland yesterday, en route for Wellington. Mil M'Lean, the Hon. Native and Defence Minister, left Auckland for East Coast ports on Wednesday last, in the p.s. Sturt, Port Church. —In accordance with advertisement, divine service was conducted in the Port Church yesterday evening by the Bishop of Waiapu, and we were pleased to observe that it was well attended. We hope that these services may continue. Township op Gisborne, Poverty Bay.—We would again remind all interested that the sale of the above township will commence at the Crown Lands Office, Napier, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday next, 13th inst, A number of intending purchasers arrived in Napier on Saturday and yesterday by the s.s. Rangatira and the schooner Colonist. Colonial Prize Firing.—Messrs H. Renouf, A r H. Blake, and B. Williams, the representatives for this Province in the Colonial Prize Firing which takes place at Dunedin on the 30th of the present month, took their departure from Napier yesterday in the ss. Wellington. The two first named belong to the Napier Bine Volunteers and the latter to No. 2 Company Napier Militia. We wish them all success.
