Charles Westhup, Esq., of Poverty Bay, has been, appointed a Justice of the Peace for the Colony. Friday night last. Lieut.-Col. Harrington may be expected to arrive in Napier to-day by the s.s. Wellington. To-morrow, at 4 p. ni, an inspection of volunteers will take place by the gallant colonel. Napier Musical Society.—We have much pleasure in directing attention to the advertisement of a concert to be given by the members of this society in the Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday evening next. The programme is varied and attractive, and we hope to see the efforts of the society rewarded by a full at tendance. We have to call attention to an important auction sale of drapery, to be held in Wellington on Wednesday next, the 16th inst., by MrR. J. .Duncan. Catalogues are to arrive by the s.s. Wellington, expected to-day, and parties desiring to purchase goods can avail themselves of the telegraph to indicate their wishes to the auctioneer, who will act as their agent. Mails for Europe, via Suez and Marseilles, will be despatched from the Chief Post Office, Napier, to Auckland on Tuesday (to-moirow), 15th March, by the s.s. Wellington. All correspondence not specially directed via Suez will be sent via San Francisco, mails for which place will be despatched from Wellington on the 28th inst., and from Auckland on the 2nd April.
