VEBY LATEST NEWS. ARRIVAL OP THE S.S. 'WELLINGTON' FROM AUCKLAND. The s.s. Wellington arrived from Auckland at an early hour this morning, bringing dates to the sth in^t. From Waikato we learn that the King natives openly sympathise with Te Kooti and that they are now arming. Te Kooti is still at large, and Colonel McDonnell is said to be quite puzzled as to where he can be. A messenger arrived at Ohinemuri on the Ist February, from Te Kooti to Te Hira who reported skirmishing between rebels and Colonial forces. At Ohineroa the combatants met and fought; battle lasted two hours; not known what results. Te Kooti, in a letter, reports our loss at fourteen, including two Wanganui chiefs : his own loss, three. The Auckland Regatta came oft' on 2nd Feb. The race for trading vessels was won by the Coquette; Sovereign of the Seas, 2 } and Nautilus, 3. The Flying Squadron arrived at Auckland on the 2nd Feb. The Right Rev Dr Cowie, Bishop of Auckland, arrived at Auckland on the 3rd Feb. The Auckland live stock market reports show an improvement—fat sheep sold at an advance of 3s per head; lambs were scarce, and higher than for several weeks. The yield from the Long Drive claim for the month of January amounted to 1,761 ozs. of gold, The s.s. Star of the South left. Auckland for this port on Saturday last with a full general cargo.
