Arrival of the s.s. Wellington. The New Zealand Steam Navigation Company's s.s. Wellington, Capt. F. Holmes, arrived in Ahuriri roadstead at 10 o'clock on Monday morning last, Dec. 20. She left Auckland at 4 p.m.' on the 18th inst., and rounded the East Cape on the 19th, at 6 p.m. Experienced N.E. wind throughout the passage. She steamed for Wellington and Southern Ports at 4 p.m. od Monday, being the bearer of the Hawke's Bay portion of the English Mail, to be forwarded to Melbourne by the s.s. Tararua, which vessel leaves Wellington on the 27th inst. Arrival of the s.s. Star of the South. The s.s, Star of the South, Capt. W. Bendall, with 200 bales wool, arrived in port on the evening of Monday last, 20th Dec. She left Napier on Wednesday, Dec. 1?, and anchored oIF Wakaki the same evening at 8.30 ; sent a boat ashore in the morning, but found the surf too heavy to land or ship cargo. On the afternoon of Dec. 16 commenced landing cargo and taking in wool. On Friday finished shipping wool at Wakaki, and left for Wairoa, where she arrived at 2 p.m. The surf being too heavy on the beach, only managed to get one. boat load of wool off. On Saturday succeeded in shipping the remainder of the wool at Wairoa, and left for Waikari, calling at places between on the coast, to land cargo, &c. Altogether, succeeded in shipping about 200 bales of wool, but the surf b?ing too heavy, could not get any more. Left Waikari at 4.30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, and was to have called in at Tongoio, but the surf being too heavy to elf ct a landing, steamed on to this port, arriving at 7 o'clock the same evening. Miscellaneous. The schooner Tawera sailed for Poverty Bay on Tuesday morning with a general cargo consigned to Captain G. E. Read. The schooner Dancing Wave, from Picton, bound to tiie Thames, put in to the roadstead on Tuesday last, for provisions, &c. She resumed her voyage the same night. The schoouer Three Brothers took her departure for departure for Wairoa last evening with a general cargo. The schooner Success, from Waimarama, may be hourly expected to arrive in port. We learn that the s.s. Storm Bird may be expected to arrive from Wellington in a day or two with a general cargo, on discharge of which she she will return to that port. An examination of the bar was made yesterday by Mr Pilot Kraei't, but the sea was too high to obtain accurate soundings. At high water slack 10 feet were found on the bar. The channel, we learn, has shifted slightly to the westward. The s.s. Kcera, hence, arrived at Auckland on the 14th inst.

11.M.5.5. Blanche, from the Fiji Islands, arrived at Wellington yesterday.

The s.s. Claud Hamilton steamed for Melbourne, from the Bluff, on Tuesday last. The iron clipper ship Chile, Captain Culbert, from London, arrived at Auckland on the 13th December, after a tedious though pleasant weather passage of 112 days. The Chile has on board the following cargo for this port:—2 cases, Newton, Irvine & Co.; 1 case, E. 11. Meinertzhagen ; 230 cases, 1740 pkgs, 600 bags, Watt Bros.; 18 pkgs, A. JI. Russell; 4 cases, 11. H. Holder; 2 cases, Kinross and Co; 2 pkgs, 11. Bay ley ; 1 case, J. Brewer; 1 ease, F. Latham; 1 case, R. Glenny ; 1 case, A. W. Abrahams; 1 case, J. C. Wray ; 1 case, H. Eorest; 2 cases, W. Marshall; 2 cases, A. Brown; 3 pkgs, J. Wood ; 1 case, E. F. Rich ; 2 packages, order.
