f FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT ] Nov. 27, 1 p iu. The s.s. Lord Ashley arrived at 8 a.m. today from Manukau, which port she left on Thursday, the 25th inst. The following is a summary of her news: — Auckland, Nov. 25. The Superintendency election ig virtually over; Gillies is 42 ahead. Large majorities in his favor are yet to come iu.
The Provincial Council elections are now going on; Mr Williamson has been returned as a member.
A letter received here says that Mr Vogel will return in a fortnight when the Inter-Colonial Conference terminates. An influential meeting of persons interested in the Thames gold fields was held to day, to consider the present unsatisfactory state of mining management at the Thames, A committee was formed to prepare a report on the subject. Specimenstealing has been largely practised. Four thousand ounces of gold were brought from the Thames last night. Crushing*—44 tons ot stuff from the All Nations claim yielded 158 ounces of gold ; and 160 tons from i the Sunbeam produced 480 ounces.
