The English Mail arrived at. Hokitika on Sunday last, and "Wellington on Tuesday. Colonel Whitmore. —"We are glad to learn on the authority of the E\ening Post that Colonel Whit, more has received by the last mail from England the Order of St, Michael and St. George, an acknowledgment by the Imperial Governmeni of the services he has rendered in a military capacity to the Colony, It is said that the same honor was offered to Mr Stafford, and re* fused by him.
