The s.s. St. Kilda. The Colonial Government gun-boat St. Kilda, Captain G. Fox, arrived in port at a late hour on Sunday evening last, from the East Coast. The St. Kilda left Napier on the night of Tuesday, 31st inst., with Ngatiporous for the East Coast. At daylight next morning lauded Major Withers at Wairoa, and proceeded on her voyage. Arrived at Poverty Bay at 4 p.m. the same day ; but had to seek shelter at Muriwai from a heavy southerly gale. Next morning the weather having moderated, returned to Turanganui, and having communicated with the authorities, steamed up the coast, landing natives at Tologa Bay, Mawhai, Waipara, Tuparoi., Awanui, and the East Cape, anchoring off the latter place at 6 p.m. on the 24th. From the time of leaving Turanganui, the wind had been northerly, with much rain. On the morning of the 25th steamed round the East Cape, and visited Morgan's place and Kawakawa, where stores, &c., were landed. The same day, she returned southwards, calling in at Tuparoa; passed the s.s. Star of the South, steaming northwards, at 3 a.m. on the 2Gth, off Waiapu. Arrived at Poverty Bay, at 12.30 a.m. on the 20th ; landed stores, took'in mails, and left at 10 p.m.; called in at Wangawehi, landed stores, &c, and steamed for Wairoa at 2 p.m.; arrived off the river at 7 p.m., but the night being very dark, and there being too muGh swell on to attempt to laud, she proceeded on her voyage, arriving in the Ahuriri roadstead at 11.30 p.m. Entered the Iron Pot at 9 o'clock on the morning of Monday, 27th Sept.; took in coal, and left for Wellington at noon on Tuesday, with a supplementary mail for England, &c.

Arrival of the s.s. Rangatira. The N.Z.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Rangatira, Captain F. Renner, arrived in the roadstead at noon on Monday last, 27th September, from Wellington and Southern Ports, with a full general cargo for this port and about a dozen passengers ; she has also on board a quantity of cargo and about 40 passengers for Auckland. She left Dunedin at 5 a.m. on the 22nd inst., and arrived at Lyttelton at 5 a.m. on the 23rd ; left Lyttelton at 1 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at noon on the 24th; left Wellington at 11.30 a.m. on the 26th, and arrived here as above, entering the Iron Pot at 10 a.m on Tuesday, September 28th. Light variable winds ana fine weather were experienced throughout the passage. The Rangatira steamed for Auckland at noon yesterday, with a cargo of sheep, preserved meat. &c, from this port. Arrival of the ketch Enterprise. TriE ketch Enterprise, Dickson, master, left Wellington on Friday last, September 24; had light southerly wind as far as Castle Point; from thence to port light variable winds ; arrived in the roads at noon on Tuesday, September 28. Had fine weather throughout. Reports sighting the cutter Glimpse, bound to Auckland from Wellington, on Monday. The Enterprise, we hear, is the property of Captain G. E. Read, of Poverty Bay, having recently been purchased by that gentleman. The ketch Wild Duck leaves for the Thames direct this morning, with a full cargo of potatoes, sharps, &c.; also 50 sheep. The cutter Mahia, we believe, leaves for Wairoa in a day or two. The s.s. Wellington may be expected here on Sunday next, 3rd October, from Southern Ports. She will steam for Auckland on the following day. The s.s. Star of the South may be expected to put in an appearance from Auckland on Saturday next, 2nd October. The brigantine Esther, hence, arrived at Wellington, on the 22nd instant.
