The Wanganui Chronicle informs us that his Excellency the Governor intends visiting Patoa during the present month. The case of supplying arms and munitions of war to natives, in which one Nathaniel Dovvington was charged with the offence, was proceeded with on Sept. 7 in the Supremo Court, Auckland. The evidence appeared to bo most conclusive as to prisoner's guilt; nevertheless, the jury returned a verdict of "not guilty," which caused considerable surprise. \
