Arrival of the s.s. Star of the South. Thk favorite stock steamer Star of the South, Captain Bendall, left Napier at 9.30 a.m. on the 26th August; experienced fine weather to the East Cape, wliieli was rounded at 5 p.m. on the 27th ; from tlieace till arrival at Auckland, had strong N.W. and B.W. winds with heavy sea, arriving alongside the wharf at 4> p.m. oil the 28lh. Lett Auckland on the 31st, at 2 a.m.; experienced fine weather throughout the passage, and brought up in Ahiiriri roads at 2 a.m. on Thursday, Sept, 2, euteriug the Iron Pot the same afternoon. Discharged general cartjo, and took in a of cattle and sheep, steaming for the Thames at 2 a.m. on Saturday last, 4th iust.

Arrival of the schooner Dancing Wave. The schooner Dancing Wave, Capt. Galbraith, from the Bay of Islands, with 103 tons coal, consigned to Messrs. Watt Brothers, arrived in port on Friday last, after it good run of four d ys. She left Russell at 10 a.m. on the 30th ult., with light S. winds; rounded the East Cape at 8 a.m. on tiie 2nd inst., with fresh northerly winds; rounded Portland Island at 8 p.m. same day ; from thence till arrival in port had light northerly winds and fine weather. Dropped anchor in the roadstead at 8 a.m. on Friday last, 3rd inst., and entered the Iron pot at 4 p.m. Reports, passing a schoouer, supposed to be the Saucy Lass, off Poverty Bay at noon on tiie 2nd inst. The Dancing Wave will probably leave for Picton on discharge of inward cargo, Arrival of the s s. Rangatira. The New Zealand Steam Navigation Company's s,s. Kangatira, Capt. Renner, arrived in port on Friday afternoon, from Southern Ports. She left i'or* Chalmers # 2 u,m, on U» 28tk ult,; arrived.

at Lyttelton at 11 a.m. on the 2sfh ; left Lyttelton 'at 6 p.m. on the 30th, and arrived at Wellington .at 5 p.m. on the 3lst; left Wellington at 1.20 a.m. on tne 2nd September, and arrived in port at !3.15 p.m. on the 3rd. From Port Chalmers to Lyttelton, experienced fine weather ; from Lyttelton to Wellington, S. and N.W. winds with heavy sea; aud from Wellington to Napier fresh northerly winds. The Itangatira steamed for Auckland yesterday evening with cattle and sheep from this port. Arrival of the cutter Mahia. The cutter Mahia, D. Hamilton, master, left Napier for Wairoa on Thursday, 26th nit., with a full general cargo; arrived at Wairoa the next day; discharged received on board 300 bushels maize, and left for Kini Kini on Friday, 3rd inst.; arrived there the samp night; next day shipped 9 tuns whale oil, and left for Napier at 8 o'clock that night. Had fine weather throughout, aud arrived here at 1 p.m. yesterday. Cargo: 300 bushels maize, Watt 8r05..; 9tuns whale oil, liichardson. —Kinross & Co., agents. Miscellaneous. The p.s. Stirt steamed to the roadstead on Thursday morning, for the purpose of endeavouring to recover the Government moorings, lost at the time of the wreck of the ship Ida Zeia-ler last February. Dredging commenced about 10 o'clock, and was continued for about four hours, without, however, finding any trace of the sunken chain. The Sturt then returned to the Iron Pot, and at 10 o'clock the same night steamed for Wellington, where she arrived at 6 o'clock on Saturday morning. The brig Maggie was got under weigh on Friday last, aud brought inside as far as the entrance to the Iron Pot. The schooner Bonnie Lass sailed for Pelorus Sound, in ballast, on Thursday last. The schooner Dunedin sailed for Picton, in ballast, on Friday last. The brigantine Esther left Wellington on the 30th alt. (Monday last), for Castle Point and Napier, with a full general cargo.
