Fraud.—Browne, a clerk in the Melbourne Post-office, has been committed for trial for stealing moneyletters. Cost of Mails.—According to a Parliamentary paper (says an Adelaide telegram) the cost; of the English mail service [ ? to that port] for the last. 18 years is £190,000. Coromandel.— -We (New Zealand Herald, August 20) are glad to learn that the Coromandel miners are in good spirits with their prospects. Two more claims are said to have struck good gold.

Governor Weld.—Mr and Mrs Weld were at Adelaide on the 13th inst. The new Governor of Western Australia and his wife were to leave for Perth in the s.s. Balclutha; their family will proceed thither in the schooner Alexandra.
