Postal. —Mr J. H. Weaver has been appointed postmaster at Waipawa; appointment to date from Ist July, 1869.
A Quantity of ammunition, &c, was yesterday despatched to Petane. A detachment of 60 men of the Armed Constabulaiy was yesterday sent to occupy the post at Runanga. Auckland Stock Market.—A full supply of cattle is reported by Messrs. Carey and Gilles, for the week ending the 14th inst. On the 10th inst. at the Junction yards 304 merino sheep, ex Lord Ashley, from Napier, sold at lis to £1 each. On the 11th inst., 16 head of cattle, ex Star of the Sour-h, from Napier, sold at £l3 5a to £lB 15s. The Gourlay Family.—-These talented artistes performed on Saturday night to an overflowing house The series of entertainments, which were entirely different from those previously given, comprised striking tableau by Mr Gourlay and Little Minnie, illustrative of the pathetic ballad " Father, dear father, come home," which was rendered with much feeling by Mrs Gourlay. This was followed by "The Loves of Dumbiedikes and Jeannie Deans," and several other comic pieces,—the whole concluding with the striking Indian Basket Illusion, which was most cleverly performed by Master Johnny and Little Minnie, the child escaping from the basket and appearing amongst the audience in front, with " Here I am, Johnny !" n est marvellously, almost before the sword was withdrawn, and when her screams fiom the interior of the wicker basket had scarce died away. This evening and to-morrow the Gourlay family perform at Waipawa, and on Wednesday the Napier folk are promised one more treat, the Gourlays on that occasion being assisted by the Napier Garrick Club,
