Commercial Intelligence.
Hawse's Bay Times Office, Monday morning. Considerable activity in commercial affairs has been manifested during the week just past—a striking contrast to the excessive dulness which has for some time prevailed. We have had arrivals from both North and South, all with large cargoes ; and the vessels that have loft our port have taken shipments of live stock, meat, tallow, &c. The prineipal feature in the importations of the week has been the extensive shipments of grain, &c, which have taken place, viz., 845 bags oats, 38 tons flour, and 53 sacks wheat, principally from the Middle Island. "We have to note a novel export—that of carcases of sheep and cattle, which we trust will mcjet with such a reception in the Auckland market as to warrant some of our enterprising stockowners in forwarding further shipments. We have heard enquiries during the week for maize, of which the market seems very short at present.
