Market. —Our own correspondent writes as follows : Friday, 30th Jul}', 1869. Messrs Carey and Gilles report the sale on Wednesday last, 23th Inst., of 120 head of fat bullocks, principally from Wanganui, Poverty Hay, and Queensland. The prices obtained averaged from 3j/ lo 38/ per lOOlbs. At the sale on Thursday prices were much easier, and tanners withdrew their stock in consequence ot a decline of from 4/ to 5/ r/er cwt. This is accounted for by the heavy supply on the previous day. sheep are in small supply and high in price,— Wanganui sheep ranging from 21/ to 29/. or fully /J per Hi. There are no sheep from Napier In the market. The Star of the South from Napier, and the Keera from Wanganui, hourly expected with cattle ana sheep.. The May Wool Sales.—The following item from the wool circular of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, dated May 21, will be of interest to 1 lawke's Bay sheepfarmers : The only descriptions of wool which form any exception to the reduction at the recent sales otherwise generally established, are good combing half-breeds, the competition for which by the Bradford buyers was keen at about the same quotation Avuioh were current in the earli r part of the year, and a considerable {proportion of the shipments from the potts of the Northern Island which fall within that category enjoyed tne full benelit of this demand. Otago.—The Daily Times, 20th July, thus reports of the Duncdin markets : Business has opened this week with some promise of better things, though at the moment we can note but few transactions carried through. The enquiry, however, is better, and after the delivery of the Australian advices per Umco, it is probable that lor a short time a steadier trade vill be done. The produce market exnibits no variation in prices. A good demand for grain exists, hut the firmness of prices seems to bo the effect of present scanty town tlelivcrjes, rather than attributable to any other cause. In the import market, we have heard or few cases, but advices of more limited shipments have imparted firmness to several items, and It may be possible during the next few days to vary the meagreness of our late reports. By auction there has been nothing of any moment.
