We think the people of this district will heartily agree wilh the view our contemporary takes of the whole question. Although Wan'ganui is only a small portion >f the Colony, it is the most closely interested in the settlement of the native difficulty, as it suffered most from the rebel ion. The experience gained here lias nabled us to judge of the different plans o deal with the natives, and to decide \\\jl\ i strong, hard policy—a relentless and not jvqv nice policy—is the only practicable .vay of putting an end to chronic rebellion.
