Sad Occurrence.—We hear that an occurrence of a very painful character took place in town on Saturday night last. lb would appear that on the night in question a number of men belonging to the Colonial forces, having during the day received their quota of pay, were drinking together in different public-houses in the town, when a fracas occurred, to qoell which the aid of a picket of the 18th Royal Irish was called in. As might be supposed, a good deal of scuffling endued, during which a man of the Colonial forces waa considerably injured by a bayonet thrust in the shoulder. He was at once conveyed to the Provincial Hospital, where he now lies. We are not aware whether the wound is a dangerous one or not. G ROVER AND BAKER'S SEWING Machines.—By advertisement in today's paper it will be seen that a shipment of the above valuable family sew ing machines has been received by Messrs. Neal and Close, who have been appointed agents for the Grover and Baker Company in Havyke's Bay.
