Napier, June 24, 1869. 288 rprom New Zealand Gazette, page 219, No. 25, 1 1869.] STAMP DUTIES ACT, 1866.—Notice. —The attention of Executors, Administrators, Legatees, and Successors, is called to the provisions of "The Ptainp Duties Act, I 860," which require : 1. That Executors and Administrators shall, in the case of all legacies, annuities, or residues paid by them, furnish to the Stamp Office full accounts of such payments, and shall pay the duty assessed thereon within sixty days thereafter; and in the case of legacies, annuities, or residues retained in trust, shall before any such retainer furnish to the Commissioners full particulars thereof, and shall pav ihe dutv assessed thereon within fourteen day* of such assessment; and shall furnish accounts of all successions under any will or estate executed or administered by them, so soon as the successor shall become be neficially entitled thereto. 2. That Legatees receiving legacies shall give receipts in the prescribed form, which receipts must bear date on the day of sign ing, and must be brought to the Stamp Office to be stamped within sixty days thereafter, otherwise such receipts become invalid. 3. That every successor to real or personal estate, as soon as he, or any other person in his behalf, shall become entitled thereto in possession, or to the receipt of the income and profit thereof, shall furnish to the Ooinmmissioners lull and true accounts of the property succeeded to, with the name of and their relationship lo the predecessor. [From New Zealand Gazette, page 279, No. 32, 1869. J Stamp Office, Wellington, June 3, 1869. HTAMP DUTIES ACTS, 1866-7. Caution. —The attention of the public is called to section sixteen (16) of Ihe Stamp Duties Act, 1866 which specifies the instruments on which the dulies payable may be denoted by adhesive stamps affixed by the makers or holders. On all other instruments the stamp must be affixed at the Stamp Office ; any stamp not so affixed is of no avail, and the instrument to which it is affixed is uu stamped within the meaning of the Act. All instruments required to be stamped after execution, except those specified in section sixteen (16). must bo presented at the Stamp Office within one month after the date of execution. Instruments not presented within one month become liable to a fine of twenty pounds (£2O) per centum upon the duty payable, which fine is increased to one hundred ponnds (£100) per centum after three months from the date of execution : no fine in the latter case beiDg less than five pounds (£5.)
