The Colonial Government gun-boat The above vessel, in command of Captain Pairchild, left Napier at 7 a.m. on tiie Ist June; proceeded (o Mahia, where she arrived at 8 p.m., and landed Colonel Whit more and Mr Pieces. Left aga'n immediately for Open Bay, where she arrived at 8 a.m. on the 2nd. In consequence of heavy easterly wind and sea, lay there two days without being able to eIP-ct a landing. At i) a.m. on the 4th commenced lo ship natives, and at 1 p in. weighed anchor and steamed for Waugawelii, having" \m board 157 men, 3 officers, 13 women and 1 child. Arrived at Wanguwehi at 11.1-5 p.m., and at 8 a.m. on llie sih, (the weather being too stormy lo proceed io Wairoa,) landed the natives. At 8 a.m. on the Gth (Sunday last), the weather having moderated, steamed for Wairoa, arriving there at 3 p.m. the same day. Landed stores, &c., and steamed for Napier at 4 p.m., bringing up in the road:; cad at S p.m.; entered the Iron Pot at ! 1.30 p.m. C plain Lmirchild reports that the Wairoa bar was in excellent condition when he ]<"•"'•. The Start steamed for Wellington at 2.-3 U p.m. on Tuesday last. Colonel Whilniore was a passenger by her, also the chief Ropata. Arrival of the schooner Jubilee The schooner Jubilee, 11. Hill, master, from Auckland via the Barrier, with a cargo of firewood, brought up in the roadstead at 8 o'clock yesterday morning, and entered the Iron IJ ot at 3 p.m. The following is the report of her voyage:—Left Auckland on the 21fh May, with strong westerly winds; arrived at the Barrier at 4 p.m. the same day ; took in 7U tons of firewood, and took her departure for Napier at S a.m. on the 3rd June. Experienced S.W. winds as far as the East Cape, which was rounded at 3 a.m. on the sth. Owing to a strong southerly burster, at,4 a.m. ran back to Hicks' Bay tor shelter. Resumed her voyage at IO a.m. on (he Gth, with S.W. winds, which veered round lo the N.E. at 6 a.m. on the 7fh. Hounded Portland Llaud at 4 p.m. on the 7th, when Iho wind again shifted. Had light W. and S.W. winds up Hawke's Bay, and arrived lice as above.
j Captain IT ill reports as follows:—Passed (lie s.s. Aiiuriri at 8 a.m. on the sth (Saturday last), and the s.s. Lord Ashley at 11 a.m.; both steamers were carrying a press oi' canvas. At 7 p.m. on the si.li was boarded by Captain Fox, of the St. Kilda. At 11 a.m. on the 7th, saw a brigantine entering Poverty Bay, it was supposed Tor shelter. Miscellaneous. Tub Colonial Government gun-boat St. Kilda. Captain Fox, from the East Coast and Wairoa, hound for Patea, brought up in the roadstead for a few minutes on Tuesday last, and then resumed her voyage in company widi the p.s. Si art. The St. Kilda had on hoard 130 natives belonging to the Ngaliporou tribe, who proceed for service on the West Coast. The s.s. Star of the South, Captain W. Bendall, steamed for Auckland at 5 p.m on Tuesday last, with 1078 sheep, 4 heifers, and 1 horse. The brig Maggie, Captain Arnold, will, wind: and weather permitting, leave for Sydney direct to-morrow morning. S : ie will take a quantity of taliow, sheepskins, scrap iron, ftc. j The s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain Worsp, may be expected to arrive from Auckland on Mondavi next, and will steam for Wellington shortly after arrival. Telegraphic Shipping. Tun barque Icon, 120 days from London, arrived at Nelson on the 7th hist. Her Majesty's ships Challenger and Blanche, from Auckland, both arrived at Wellington on the evening of the Blh inst. The ship Caroline Coventry, from London, arrived at Lyttelton on the Blh hist. The s.s. Wellington, from Port Chalmers and Lyttelton, arrived at Wellington at 8 a.m. on the Bth instant. The s.s. Alliambra, from Nelson, arrived at Wellington at 9 p.m. on the Bth inst. The s.s. Airedale, from the Bluff, arrived at Port Chalmers on the t)ih inst. , The s.s. Beautiful Star and s.s. Rangatira both steamed for Waugauui on the Bth insi., —the former for Nelson and the latter from Wellington. The brig Princess Alice sailed lor Auckland, from Lyttelton, on the Bth inst.
