Want of Confidence Motion.— - We learnt by telegraph yesterday that Mr Fox had given notice of motion that on Tuesday next, loll) insfc., he will move "That this House has no confidence in the piesent Go vernment." The p.s. Sturt, Capt. Fairchild, steamed for Wellington at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday last, with Col. Whitmore on board. Ropata Wahawaha, the Ngatiporou chief, accompanied Col. Whitmore to Wellington, and is to return in a day or two by the Sturt, to take part in the operations at Waikarimoana. A Complimentary Dinner was given on Monday evening last by some members of the Hawke's Bay Club to Colonel Whitmore, on the occasion of his passing through Napier on his way to Wellington. The chair was occupied by Jos. Rhodes, Esq., J.P., and the vice-chair by J. A'Deane, Esq., J.P. The party numbered 22, and among the invited guests present were the Bishop of Waiapu, Capt. Wray and all the officers of the 18th in garrison here, Major Withers, and J. M. Tabutean, Esq. The object of the entertainment was to give the gallant colonel some slight acknowledgment of his services to the Colony for nearly 12 months, during the wmole of which period he has been actively engaged in the field. The party broke up at a late hour after passing a very agreeable evening. The s.s. St. Kilda, Captain Fox, arrived in the roadstead from the East Coast and Wairoa on Tuesday last, Avith about 130 natives of the Ngatiporou tribe, consisting of 105 men, and the rest women and children. They are going to join the] Ngatiporon Division of Armed Constabulary which Hotene took there some months ago, and Ave understand that it is their desire to settle on lands to be granted them by the General Government. It was Hotene's wish to send 50 more picked men, but the steamer was full. With this strong reinforcement the Ngatiporou chiefs intend to hunt up Titokowaru wherever he may have gone to.—The St. Kilda, on arrival here on Tuesday, did not anchor, but afer communicating with the authorities proceeded on her voyage at 2.30 p.m., in company with the p.s. Sturt.
