Drill. —A parade of the Napier Riiie Volunteers will take place on Saturday next, at 7 a.m., and every Saturday at the same hour in future until further orders. Members of the Band are exempt from these parades. The Customs Revenue at +he several ports of the Colony of New Zealand for the quarter ending 31st March, 1869, amounted to ,£189,584 —showing a falling off of £4089 from that collected during the corresponding quarter of 1808. The revenue at the Port of Napier for the March quarter of 1869 amounted to £0,201, being an increase of £2BB on the receipts for the quarter ending 31st March, 1808. Fire at Meanee.—We regret to record that the dwelling house of Mr \V. H. Frame, Meanee, was totally destroyed by fire on Monday morning last. The fire, we learn, was discovered by Mrs Frame about 8 o'clock, and but a short time elapsed before the building was burnt to the ground—only a small part of its contents having been saved. The erection of the house, we believe, cost £450 : we have not heard whether or not it was insured. Fatal Accident. —A sad accident occurred on Tuesday morning last, resulting in the death of a fine intelligent little hoy, five years of age, named Herbert Mabbett. The child was at Puketapu, on a visit to some friends named M'Niell, and was playing with another little boy in a paddock, when they incautiously began to tease a horse. The horse kicked out and struck the deceased below the ear, rendering him insensible. He did not recover consciousness, and died in about nine hours after the accident. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents, as well as for the people with whom the child was staying, who are naturally greatly distressed by the sad occurrence.
