Arrival of the p.s. Lyttelton. The paddle steamer Lyttelton, Captain Scott, under charter to the Government, made the anchorage in the roadstead at noon on Thursday last, entered the Iron Pot at 4 p.m., coaled and took stores on board, and took her departure for Wairoa at a late hour the same night. The following is her report:—Left Wellington at 5 a.m. on Friday, April 23, with 45 men of the Armed Constabulary Force, under Capt. Handley, and a quantity of ammunition, camp equipage, &c.; experienced strong N.E. wind with heavy swell; at 10 a.m. rounded Cape Palliser, and at 11 a.m., off Castle Point, passed the s.s. Lord Ashley ; was off Blackhead at 3 p.m. on the 24th, but owing to the gale increasing, came to an anchor. Left again at midnight, but had to return, finding that the little vessel could make no headway against the high sea running. On. Tuesday, the Ahuriri arrived from Napier, and took on board men, ammunition, &c. The Lyttelton left Blackhead at midnight on Wednesday, and arrived here as above. This steamer, we learn, will remain on this coast during the present unsettled state of affairs. Arrival of the schooner Jane Anderson. The clipper schooner Jane Anderson, Capt. John Falconer, with a full cargo of flour, oats, barley, &c, arrived in the roadstead at noon on Friday last. She left Dunedin on the 15th April, and arrived at Oamaru on the 16th ; discharged part of her cargo and took in 25 tons barley. Lefr Oamaru on the 18th ult. ; experienced light eas'erly and north-easterly winds until off K'-iikora on the 24th, when she fell in with a heavy N.E. gale, with high sea. Owing to having a deck load, put back to Lyttelton, arriving there on the 2.5 th ; left again on the 26th, with light southerly wea ther, and on the 27th, with a little to the northward of the Kaikoras experienced strong N.E. winds with fearful sea. On the 28th at noon, 25 miles to the southward of Cape Palliser, it fell calm, which, witli heavy N.E. swell, continued until noon on the 29th, when a souther sprang up, which carried her to the anchorage, which she made as above. The Jane Anderson entered the Iron Pot on Saturday morning, and was moored alongside the Government Wnarf, when she commenced discharge of inward cargo. Arrival of the s.s. Wellington. The s.s. Wellington, Captain Holmes, left Auckland at 4 p.m. on Thursday last, April 29 ; East Cape was rounded at 1 p.m. on Friday ; and the anchorage made at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Ist May. Experienced strong southerly winds throughout the passage. Reports having, on Friday last, sighted the s.s. St. Kilda 10 miles to the southward of the East Cape. The Wellington steamed southwards at 6 p.m. on Saturday. We have to acknowledge the courtesy of Mr. C. D. Moss, the purser, in supplying us with latest files, &c. Arrival of the s.s. Lord Ashley. The Circular Saw Line s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain H. Worsp, left Auckland at 3.45 p.m. 'on Friday last, April 30; ronnded the East Cape at 10.15 a.m. yesterday, having experieued fine weather and moderate south-west winds throughout the passage. Reports having passed a steamer off Cape Colville at 7.30 p.m. on Friday; also-saw the s.s. St. Kilda, two schooners, and a cutter at anchor in Hicks' Bay. The Ashley, with the outward English Mail on board, steamed for Wellington at 1 p.m. yesterday. We have to thank the purser, Mr Monkraan, for one day's later papers from Auckland.
