The 18th Regt. is to be retained in New Zealand at the cost of the Colony. Coal.—During the month ending 31st March, 815 tons of coal have been imported into this Province. Export of Sheep.—During the month ending 31st March, 4,474 sheep have been exported from this Province. We (Southern Cross, 29th March) learn that the crew of the Customs cutter Ringleader ha-\ e been successful jn obtaining possession of facts sufficient to bring the crime of selling ammunition to natives home to certain parties who trade on this coast. In order to prevent the ends of justice from being thwarted we withhold the names of those who ftt» implicated.
