LETTER OF CONDOLENCE TO MRS. WHITELEY FROM THE AUCKLAND WESLEYAN BODY.

At the conclusion of the meeting held in .Auckland by the Wesleyan Community, the Rev. Mr Buller came forward and informed the meeting that it had been suggested to send a letter to Mrs Whiteley on her bereave* inent. He made allusion to Mr Whiteley's attendance at the recent Conference in Auckland, just after the Poverty Bay massacre. That event made a deep impression on Mr Whiteley. His daughter said she never saw him smile afterwards, and he was frequently moved to tears when referring to it. Little did he or any present anticipate that he was to follow in a short time. The re v . gentleinau read the following letter, which, ho said, was signed by the office-bearers on behalf of the Church ; Auckland, March 3, 1869, Dear Mrs Whiteley,—We, the minister** office bearers, and members of the Wealeyavi Church in the Auckland Ckcuitj beg to address you with the deepest sympathy in the sad bereavement you have been called upon to suffer. \ No one would have anticipated that your devoted and beloved husband would meet with such treatment from those ha had so long endeavored to benefit in every possible way. In the deep sorrow of widowhood, wa pray that you may be able to cast your burthen upon the Lobd, and that your adorable Kedeemer may enable you to experience the burthen of his promises, " my grace is sufficient for thee."
