Adelaide, Feb. 25. News has reached here of disturbances by the blacks in the Far North. There is no more inquiry for wheat, which is at 4s Bd. Flour is firm at last quotations. Feb. 26. The corn market is quiet. Buyers of wheat offer 4s 8 1, but holders ask 4* B|d. Four parcels of country flour sold at £ll ss. Feb. 28. It is seated that a Conference between the Chambers of Commerce of Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney is arranged. The corn market is more active, there being good inquiry for wheat and flour at last quotations. Melbourne, Feb. 25. The Duke of Edinburgh, his Kxeellency the Governor, and suite visited the Theatre last night, which was crammed ; a large number were unable to obtaine admission. His Royal Highness dines at Toorak this evening, with a number of leading colonists, and will be present at the Mayor's ball this evening. Dr Mueller has received the rank of Compat ion of the order of St Michael and St George. The Estimates are progressing in the Assembly, which has adjourned till Tuesday next. Mr Lockhart Mortons's new patent wool press has been tried with satisfactory results. The Victorian cricketers left in the Wonga Wonga for (Sydney. Feb. 26. There were 2,000 persons at the Mayor's ball last night in honor of the Duk eof Edinburgh. His Royal Highness proceeded to-day to JJarwon Park, rabbit shooting. The Galatea is open for inspection to day. It is understood that the Galatea is to sail for Sydney on the oth March. Mr Bonsey, police magistrate of Geelong, retires on a pension. Levinger, charged with the murder of South Sea Islanders, has been further remanded, and bail refused. The deposi tions show atrocious barbarity. There has been a good inquiry for wheat, but little is offering ; feeding grain is dull; the new rice ex Portland was withdrawn at £22 15s, buyers being unwilling to go £2O. Feb. 27. The aborigines beat the Sandhurst team to day by 3 to 1. The Duke of Edinburgh is rabbit-shoot-ing at Bar won Park, lie returns to-night. The Rev. Mr Henderson, who has been ailing t'or some time, resumes preaching to-morrow. Mr M'Combie has re.-igned his seat for Gipps Land, and proceeds to England per Talbot. The Argus annual picnic took place to-dtiy; there were six hundred persons present. Levinger has been further remanded tili Wednesday. Sydney, Feb. 22. The heir to the Somerviile peerage, who is a sugar-planter at Port Macquaie, proceeds to England by the mail steamer. The Corporation of Sydney intend to x ive a grand ball to the Prince in the new market. Feb. 23. In the Assembly to-day Mr Macleay moved the adjournment of the House to inquire respecting the suppression of the Prince's letter recommending O'Farrell to mercy, and the abstraction of other official documents by members of the late Government. The markets are quiet. Candles are firmer. Adelaide wheat is quoted at 5s 6d. Feb. 24. Gold has been discovered near Mudgee. 8 p.m. A protracted debate is proceeding in the Assembly on the vote of £2,000 for the reception of his Koyal Highness the Duke of Ediabuigh. The publicans are organising an opposition to the Permissive Liquor Bill, to prevent its passage through Parliament. DtTNOLLY, Feb. 22. A twenty-ounce nugget has been found by a digger. Accounts from every side come to hand of the disastrous bush fires on Saturday. They destroyed milts of fencing and thou sands of acres of grass on the stations and farms about Yambuok, Fen hurst, Woouforu, Wooistrope, Purnira, and Allansford Out-houses and harness were destroyed, and pigs roasted alive. The sheep, cattle, and horses strayed away.
