The Auckland papers announce the death, on the night of the 9th inst., at Wangarei, of the Rev. John G-orrie, the much-respected Presbyterian Minister of that district. Alieged Discovert oe Ammunition at Ohinemuri.—l'he Thames Times, (sth March, says;—Rumors have been afloat in this district for the last few days, which, if they have any foundation in fact, would point to a serious cause for alarm at the position of native matters at Ohinemuri. From Avhat we can learn, it appears that two Europeans whilst prospecting on the quiet in the ranges at Ohinemuri, fell across a cache or plant of ball cartridge, evidently concealed there.by the natives. The men removed as many as possible, brought them down to town, and disposed of them here at a cheap rate. Upon returning for more of the merchandise, they found that the natives had been made aware that their plant had been sprung, for the remainder of the cartridges (amounting, it is said, to a considerable quantity) had been removed. We give the above rumor for what it is worth—one thing is certain though, and that is that there is a much too indiscriminate sale of both arms and ammunition to, natives in this township,
