Reinforcements. —The Airedale which arrived here last night, landed 47 Volun-

teers from Auckland atTaranaki. Everything was quiet there when the Airedale left.—Wellington Independent, March 9. An Enigma.—A Schooxer Load of Ammunition.—The Wellington Independent, 9th March, says :—"The question is frequently asked, ' How do the rebels get their supplies of ammunition?' Some suppose from the 'Friendlu-s,' some suppose from unprincipled importers and dealers, some suppose from coasters snd American whalers, but nobody seems to know for certain. Perhaps the telegram we publish to-day may throw some light on the matter." The following is the telegram referred to:—" Blenheim, Bth March, 5 p.m. Information has just been received at Blenheim that a topsail schooner, loaded with ammunition put into Port Underwood, from the southward on the 24th ult. and left again after dusk on the 27th, going northward, it is presun ed for the Fijis." Another Victim to Intemperance.— An inquest was held before H. T. Spratt, Esq., Coroner, and a respectable jury, at A. M'Masters', Tupurupu, on the 24th of Feb., on the body of George Graham, the cook. He had returned the day before from Wellington, where he had gone to obtain his crown grant for some land he possessed at the Hutt. He evidently had been drinking hard, but went to bed comparatively all right, but must have died without a struggle, as the book he had been reading was lying on his breast. Verdict—" Sudden death from natural causes, accelerated by excessive drinking."
