Accident with Gunpowdek.—Early on Thursday morning, 7th inst., Mrs G. Morris, of South Grafton, (says the Observer) met with a very serious accident in the following manner. Sho found some difficulty in getting her fire to light, and got some powder out of her husband's gun and put it on the ashes to create a blaze. This had only a momentary effect, and as the wood again refused to burn she got the powder canister, having about four ounces of powder in it. This she commenced to sprinkle over the embers from the mouth of the canister, when the powder suddenly ignited and exploded tho canister in her hand. Her husband came to her assistance as soon as possible, and bound up her right hand which was mostly injured, and sent her at once to Dr Croft. Mr Morris said she had bled from the hand about two quarts, and when the doctor I inspected tho injured parts, he found the back of tho hand in the region of the thumb and wrist very much injured. Al largo gash also appeared in the web conned ing tho thumb and finger of the left hand. Tho women was suffering great pain, but the wonder is that her right hand had not been blown off. It was stated that the brachial artery of Mrs Morris's right hand was severed.
