The very full extracts we are able to give 00-day from the files brought to hand by the Ahuriri, combined with the demands on our space made by correspondents, leaves us but little room for leading or other matter. We do not regret this, as the paragraphs we quote are of great interest, and will be read with some degree of satisfaction. It will he seen that our previous telegrams were quite correct. Further details are now supplied. Of course it must be matter of regret that Titokowaru was suffered to escape, and that he is, as it appears, still at large.. We much, fear that this is, at least in a great measure, owing to want of due vigilance on the part of the Native Contingent. Certainly we may be mistaken, but it seems to be so—and, indeed, we cannot wonder at it, contingencies of this kind being only some of the drawbacks necessarily attendant on the employment of natives against their own race. We have been favored by a gentleman, a passenger for Auckland by the Ahuriri, with a sight of a New Zealand Advertiser, of the Bth Feb., —no files of that journal having reached us.
