It will be remembered that the Government raised a small body c-f volunteers recently “ for a short trip to Poverty Bay,” whom they discharged immediately after their return to Napier. Had the services of those men been retained, there would have been no necessity now to raise a foot constabulary force. It would be difficult to say where Captain Tuke will find even so small a number as 25 to jo;n Tie proposed corps.
