SERIOUS ROBBERY AT SHORTLAND.

Infokmatiox has been received by the notice in Auckland of a most daring and extensive robbery at Sbortiand. which was committed iu a house or a diiui in the L<mg Drive, Tookey’s Flat. Tiie occupants left the house all secure, in order to go down to the township, and on their return, after a few hours absence, found that a forcible entry through the window had been df-’ctcd. and the follow ir.g property had been taken flwaj', viz.;—Two £BO notes en the B .nk of Mew Zealand, three <£s do, five AT. do, an older on the Bank of Mew Zealand for £IOO, a receipt f r £0 for surveying the All Nations, claim, a silver pencil ccwo, and oae or two other small articles, the properly cf Alfred Newdriek. A pocket-boo!.: containing three £5 notes, and two or-1 ders on the Bank of New Zealand Auckland, for £IOO each ; a cia-cme! for £B7 1-I°. ; a receipt for £d.X) on the Bunk cf New ZeMmd, Shculaud ; and another, for £l5O, on the same bank, at Auckland ; and a receipt tor £OO, signed by a private party, par: the properly cl Mr Newdriek, and part belonging to Mr Snowdon, are also miffing. There was other property in the house, but it luckily escaped detection.
