A little girl, (lie daughter of Jlr George Budlong, by going too close to tlic hearth set her dress on tire, and was very badly burned. She lingered until the evening of the day on which the sad accident took place, and then died. The late Mks G-ahnek.—The Wanganui Chronicle of the 27th ult. furnishes tliej following obituary notice of the death of Mrs Garner, who paid the debt of nature] on the previous day ; —“Her death will be widely lamented, ns her memory well deserves to be long held in esteem. At a time when settlers were few, and medical comforts were not easily procurable, she
was known as a ministering angel at the bedside of (ho sick, end suffering; wherever distress existed Mrs (darner was ever read" with her advice, her skill, and her kind assistance. She had been ailing ever since the melancholy death of her son, Mr William Garner, and latterly was entirely confined to her ro- •in —no; suffering much, but graaually Tvasiiug away.
