COLONIAL SECURITIES.
The following important information respecting colonial securities appears in a circular issued by Hr Westgarth. of London. It will be seen that the intelligence is of a highly gratifying nature ; Since last circular, the market in Australian and New Zealand Govern* ment debentures has continued most active at a further considerable advance in the prices of nearly all the stocks. The fact, which immediately transpired, that Messrs Rothschild were purchasers of the New Zealand loan, sold by the Crown agents on the 19th, had great influence in directing attention to these securities, and particularly to the New Zealand loans, the prices of which, provincial as well as colonial, have especially improved. The loan itself, brought at 104- ex coupon due the the loth pros., has advanced to 2 to 3 premium. Tbs b3.13.11c0 of tbs Aucklsud six per cent, loan, in the hands of the Bank of New Zealand, at the price of 95, was all taken up on the 21st, amounting to ,£120,0U0. A condition the purchase was that the stock be quoted in the stock and share list; and it appears that there is no insurmountable obstacle to this important position, although, as we understood some objection has always been made by the Stock Exchange to granting a quotation to the subdivisions of a colony. The attainment of a quotation will improve the value of all these provincial stocks, and indeed this prospect seems already
to have bad its-effect upon their pries. A small South Australian loan was disposed of on the same day, the 21st; its amount was only £40,000, at the price of 108. The debentures were due 1837, the interest as usual on Ist "Jan. and Ist July.
