NEW RUSH TO men GROUND IN THE WESTPORT I) IST H ICT. The Westport Evening Star of Wednesday, January Sth, says : “We have intelligence to-day of the discovery of a new rich ground on the Caledonian Lead, and it is further stated that an extensive rush has taken place. The news caused consulorahhexcitement in town, and during tla.xnormng our merchants ami storekeepers were busily engaged in sending away goods to the new rush. A considerable number of people have already left town to try their luck. Others are only waiting f.»r further information. The new ground is supposed to be a continuation of the Caledonian Lead, and is extensive. 1 ’ GOOD NEWS EROM THE BRIGHTON DISTRICT. The Brighton Times of 4th January says. — “On the Dublin Terrace, Cameron and party have doing well, their usual returns being from .£4O to £6O per man a week. Shares have ch mged hands in this claim for £3OO ami £350. It will take six months to exhaust the claim. Hanlon and party on the same terrace have most encouraging prospects before them. Fourteen to sixteen feet of payable and is something to look at. lam informed that they are making £IG a week per man. A very healthy stateof matters is observable on the Belfast and Daylesford Tern-aces, which still coaiiiiua to maintain their popuhi-ti-iv’
