WOOL CIRCULAR. S. E. Edenborougii ft o , Wool Brokers, Loudon, report as follows : 24th August, 18(>7, The third series of Colonial wool sales for 1867 opened on the 15th inst. The quantity of new wool arrived since the opening of the new series is as follows, vig.:—

To which may be added about 20,090 to 25,000 bales hold over, so that the quantity available for tale is about 150,030 bales. “ The attendance of buyers has so far been hardly so large as usual, but there has been fair competition at about the average rates of May-Juue. Port Philip.—The belter grades arc in fair request, and being limited in quantity arc likely to improve should trade in general show any revival ; but the lower classes are abundant, and we think not likely to move upwards. There is a very large quantity of scoured skin woo', which sells about id to Id below last sales. Half-bred wool still continues neglected. New Zealauds, as will be seen above, are in verylarge supply, and must be quoted at about average, rates of May-June, or fully Id lower than tin; high prices paid in the la-1 week or two of that series, 'the quantity of scoured woo! from this colony lias considerably increased, but except in a few instances the scouring is not well do u-. and requires more care; and amongst the Hocks in the a little more attention to skirling would be desirable.

Adelaides arc a poor lot, chiefly the wind-up of clips, and offer no fair criterion. In Sydneys, the letuUncy is still towards a decrease in the supply of llne-haired clothing wool, and this de'criptiou is well maintained ; the good combing grades, however, arc barely so Urn, as they suffer from the competition of otlu r sorts Scoured are in fair supply, and the better quaUtie. meet with good demand ; low faulty mutely kinds, however, are diilr-u'. 1 . to sell.

Cape wool luily maintains the average rates of last sales, which were indeed so low that a further fall could hardly lie anticip.iti'd. T..c quality of the wool now coining forward seems hut ;>•> >r.

though the quantity will be hu-re. Burr a d weds are very prevalent, cspccial'y in the Five state parcels. Buenos Ayres and Monte Video wool meets a quiet but steady sale at ah ml late rales, and some rather large lots of washed Moutc Video have lately changed bonds. English wool and all classes of low wool are and have been a perleet drug on the market for some months past, and even a sen .us concussion in price fails to bring forward any number of buyers.

It is v. ry diuicull to predict what the future ofi colonial wool may be, under any cnrumstaoces we ; think it would be unwise to look fur any great, improvement. The unprecedented abundance of' money, coupled with a fair hai vest and a settlement of the political uneasiness on the Con; incut, would no doubt give some impetus to the demand and induce an improvement for the time on such; descriptions us are not in over-abundant supply ;' but tbe very favorable report ns to the lambing season in almost all wool-producing countries, and anticipations of a largo clip in all quartets, joined to the severe check given to trade, and which it will yet lake along time to recover, will we thinki prevent any marked rise, even under the most favorable circumstances, and we should recommeudl much caution in all operations in the colonies. LONDON WOOL REPORT. August 39, 1567. Since the commencement of this series of sales the following quantities have passed the hammer Sydney, 73 Hi bales ; .Victoria, 19,565; South Australian, 1708; Tasmania, 2127; New Zealand, 11.401; Capo, 6112; total, 39,289. Wo have hud only a moderate attendance of buyers, and the biddings, although tolerably well maintained, have been extremely cautious. As a rule the closing rales of June Lave not been maiutamed, especially for wools in the grease, which arc decidedly easier. Washed fleece and scoured may be quoted about tbe same as the average rates of last scries. Lambs’ wool is rather dearer. Tbe slate of the wollen trade on the Continent is far from sat isfastory. and we cannot expect that the purchases on foreign account wi.l be nearly so extensive as they were in June. Too effects of a good harvest at home may have a favourable inllucncc on the market, but we do not anticipate any upward movement in prices for some time to come. The great commercial panic of last year, so little fell, comparatively at the time, in our trade, is even now exercising an unfavourable influence, and its effects must have time to wear themselves out.
