Omarunui. —Saturday next, 12 th October, will be remembered as the anniversary of tbe spirited engagement at Omarunui, on the banks of the Meanee river, in which many of our fellow-citizens took part. We have not heard whether or notit is intended to commemorate the event by observing a general holiday.
The Weather. —For about a week we have had a succession of strong westerly winds, with very close atmosphere. Yesterday, however, a change took place : the wind shifted to S.E., blowing cold, and accompanied with slight showers of rain. A little rain just now will be hailed with satisfaction.
A New Export. —The schooner Success, which sailed for Auckland yesterday, was the bearer of about 8 tons of bones. This is a new export for Napier, and we are somewhat surprised that such should be the case — bones for manure, we presume, being as much required in Hawke’s Bay as anywhere else. We should be more satisfied to see them turned to account in this Province.
