PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

The Provincial Council met, pursuant to adjournment, at three o’clock on Tuesday last, the 10th instant. The business, in the absence of his Honor the Superintendent and the member for Porangahau, was merely formal, consisting only of the transfer of the business on the order paper to next sitting day. Very few members, therefore, were present —seven only, including the Speaker. Light as the business was, a considerable time was occupied by it; a desultory and conversational discussion taking place between Mr Tiffen and Mr Rhodes, as to the regular method of postponing the notices of absent members. This being at length settled, the Council, on the motion of Mr Rhodes, adjourned till Tuesday, the Ist October.
