The Convict Thicker.—The Independent of the Bth inst. says:—“Walter Trioker, the supposed murderer of Mr Raynor, at Rangitikei, has confessed him« sell' to have been the sole committer of the atrocity.” Fearful Distress in Christchurch. —The Grey River Argus of the 30th ult., suys; —“We regret to learn from our Hokitika contemporary of yesterday that the greatest distress prevails in Christchurch amongst the unemployed. Hundreds of starving creatures throng the streets seeking work, and have sent in a petition to the Council praying that something may be done to aid them. An pointed to adopt measures of relief.”
