Hamilton, master, from Poraugahau and Maugakuri, with 1U bales of wool, on Thursday morning last.

We leant that the schooner Annie has been taken up for the conveyance of some military settlers to Wairoa, and is intended to sail to-day should the treat her permit.
Titr. Loud Ashley.—The Panama Company's s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain 11. Worsp, is due here to-day from Taurausa and Auckland, and will leave for Southern Provinces, with the English Mail via Sue/,, shortly after arrival. Tilt; Tab v.naKl. The "New Zealand Steam Navigation Company’s s.s. Taranaki, Capt. 11. B. Francis, with the English and Australian Mails, is duejiere on or about Friday, 23rd inst., ami will leave for Tuurangu and Auckland shortly after itrrh .il.
Tin; Grayling—Vi’e under stand the repairs to the caller Grayling have been suspended tor the time being-, pending the arrival of necessary material from Auckland. The Weather and the Shipping.—Since Monday, the weather has not improved. The wind Ims gone round to a wanner quarter, but the rain has not ceased ; indeed, it came, down prettv smartly yesterday, and shows no sign* of elearip.g oil' up to this writing. The strong north-easterly breeze which prevails will doubtless bring down the Betsy, Bittern, and a best of other vessels from Northern ports, long overdue. Possibly, the brie Maggie may also be putting in an appearanee in the course of a day or two. The Iron Pot presents a very bare appearance—only four vessels being inside, viz., the schooner Annie (which leaves for Wairoa to-day, weather permitting) ; the kctcii Hero, recently arrived from Wairoa; and the cutters Grayling and Muhin, both laid up for repairs.
The Hangitoto.—This steamer, which left our harbour for Melbourne about four o’clock yesterday afternoon, got disabled in the Bay, and a boat sent back for assistance reached (he wharf a little after eight o’clock last night. The steamer Lady Barkly was sent (o tow her hack. The nature of the accident is precisely similar to that which lately hefe! the Taranaki off the East Coast. It is expected that the damage will be able to he repaired to-day, so that the steamer may proceed on her passage this evening.—Nelson Examiner, July 27. Stranding or the, Kennedy. —The liar at Hokitika is in a very had state, and the entrance has of late, frequently shifted. The ’West Coast Times of the 20th instant says:—Very little abatement in the surf was perceptible yesterday, and IHe bar in consequence was declared impracticable to all but light draught linndv steamers. Two only crossed it, the Bruce and ‘the Yarra', the latter haying left the lagoon to attend the Ciaud Haiimoni, and returned via the North Cnanin-i, wHich was also used bv the Bruce to pood eli’eet. The steamer Kennedy refused to tackle it, choosing the South Channel instead, but wo tire sorry to say failed to reach the lagoon, as she grounded between the south spit and the middle bank. The Kennedy was got off, and was alongside the wharf on Saturday last uninjured. " A telegram from Melbourne, dated July 15, fiays: —t’aptam M'Leau’s report of seeing a wreck off Moonlignt Heads is confirmed by Captain Kelly, of the barque Atlantic, who also reports seeing a wreek bottom upwards, off Cape Otway, showing about (id feet keel. Morning Herald. JFihe on board the Steamer Claud Hamilton. —The Sydney Morning Herald of the 6th instant says ? —The steamer Claud Hamilton, now in Walervicw Dry Dock, was reported to be' on fire at 11.30 p.m. The bell at the works Avas rung, and in fifteen minutes 2UO men Avcre set to worK, and at 1.30 a.m. everything was safe. The fire Avas accidental, several carpenters belonging to the Company Aiere at work in the mail-room lifting the ceiling, and some felt, with whieh the mail-room was lined, caught fire. There is no damage, except the felt ainl the lining boards charred.
