During the current month the number of applicants for relief at the Sesident Magistrates’ office is much greater than that of la;t month. Already 1114 rations hare been issued at a cost of £2B 12s 3d. chargeable to the Provincial Government, ihis fact shows a different state of things to what existed some time ago. for it is staled that in 18(31 only 130 rations were applied for to the Government.
